HAIR PROGRESS?

I straightened my hair after the 2nd carmel DC and now I think it is time to do a progress check.

March 30, 2008

I don't see that much growth but my hair is definitely thicker. So, since Husband has discouraged me from getting a touch up in April, I will try to continue stretching until June/July 1st. I will join the BSL challenge at Black Hair Planet. God please help me.

ROSEWATER & GLYCERINE

I was at Whole Foods and picked up a rosewater & glycerine mix that smells divine. I also got some more glycerine. I think I will use the rosewater/glycerine as a hair perfume/baggy mix. It is meant for skin and I might use it on my face because my acne is raging.

2ND CARMEL PROCEDURE

So, I did my 2nd carmel deep condition. Here is what I put in it
  1. 4 tablespoons molasses
  2. 4 tablespoons glycerine
  3. 4 tablespoons castor oil
  4. 4 tablespoons honey
  5. 2 cap fulls of ACV
  6. some Amla oil
  7. Some vatika
  8. A container of bananas
  9. 4 tablespoons grapeseed
I left it in my hair for just over 2.5 hours and then washed it out with VO5. I then put some ORS Con in my hair and washed it out about 1.5 hour later. I applied KODL, SCurl, Castor oil and went to bed. The next morning, I applied Vatika oil and combed. The amount of hair I lost was okay. However, I noticed that my hair had lots of tangles. Well, maybe 5. I combed and detangled and straightened with my FHI flat iron.

My hair did not feel silky the way it probably did the last time. In fact as i sit here, my hands cannot run through my hair smoothly. I am not sure if that is because I didn't shampoo. But, the next time I do a carmel treatment, I will shampoo before con. I have now decided that i will not wait until the end of April to relax. I will give myself 2 weeks (to give my scalp a post-MN break).

I see some growth on the left side of my head but not as much as I expected, honestly and it is very frustrating but mostly disappointing. Hopefully over the next 2 weeks, my hair will grow a little bit, but right now, I think I need to simply get Boundless Tresses and try it 1 month into my new relaxer or once my NG kicks in whichever happens first.

CAN I GET AN AMEN, COS...

My shikamlaaritha combo is the absolute truth!!!!!!

I prepood with ghee/castor oil/amla oil for over 2 hours. Then applied a combination of 2 tbs of Amla/1tb Shikakai/1 tbs aritha and rinsed. I then applied VO5 conditioner, scritched and my hair felt like silk! I didn't even need to apply my ORS Hair Mayo! I detangled easily and didn't have to comb my hair. It airdried and felt so soft and manageable. I added KODL, spiked SCurl, Castor oil (focused on ends), Vatika.

I could do this everyday! It's just so good.

I will stick to this Ayurvedic treatment at least once a week.

This I swear!

IS MY HAIR GROWING?

Well, in some spots, I actually have double the amount of NG I had 3 weeks ago. But, I am hesitant to get excited. I continue to hope that when I straighten my hair this weekend, there will be noticeable growth. Afterall, this weekend will mark 4 weeks of MN/Sulfur mix and 3 weeks of MSM intake and 6 weeks of my hair-conscious journey. lol!

I will put pics up and hopefully do some comparisons. Please God, let me get the growth I am hoping for!

TRESEMME MOISTURE RICH CONDITIONER

Tresemme Vitamin E Enriched Moisturizing Conditioner, Dry & Damaged Hair - 32 Oz
TRESemme Vitamin E Moisture Rich Conditioner for dry or damaged hair (32 fl oz)

I hate this conditioner!!!!

The first time I used it, I ended up with a tangled mess. I tried it again on Friday but mixed it with Molasses, Castor Oil, Grapeseed Oil in hopes of creating a super moisturizing DC. Ah, how wrong I was!

Well, just like the first time I used this conditioner, my hair felt dry and was tangled. I only left the conditioner on my hair for about 20 minutes. I will not throw this mess of product away, but will offer it to someone whom it might actually work for. But this nonsense will never see my hair again!

This I swear!

MORE AYURVEDIC STUFF!

tODAY, i PURCHASED SOME MORE AYURVEDIC PRODUCTS
  1. amla oil
  2. turmeric powder
  3. cinnamon
  4. aritha powder
The turmeric is for my skin. The cinnamon is for henna/lightening. Amla is to use interchangeably with Vatika, my oil mix, Castor oil sealants. Aritha is to be added to my Shikamla mix which will now become a combination of
  1. shikakai powder ----- 1 tablespoon
  2. amla powder -------- 2 tablespoons
  3. aritha powder ------- 1 tablespoon
Shikakai acts as a protein and strengthens the hair, amla moisturizes and aritha cleanses and acts as a growing agent. Neem is similar to Aritha. But apparently, Brahmi and Bhringaraj (sp) act as strong growth agents. Can't wait to get some in April.

TE's HAIR

Boy, did that Carmelization make a difference! I didn't do her hair for 2 weeks but you could still see curl pattern! Today, I put a prepoo/DC mixture in her hair for about 2.5 hours. Here's what was in it -
  1. Molasses
  2. Grape seed oil
  3. Castor oil
  4. Some conditioner
I washed it out and then put her conditioner in her hair and rinsed. Her hair ended up being extremely manageable. I then used the Kids Organics Detangling lotion, sprayed spiked SCurl on her hair and sealed with Vatika.

When it came time to do her hair, I was amazed at how soft and shiny her hair was. It was so nice. I am so glad that I might have found a way to keep her hair healthy and manageable. Now, if only I can start washing her hair once a week. lol!

ANOTHER SHIKAKAI DAY!

The last time I used Shikakai, I put 2 spoons of Amla in it. Well, its that time again and I followed the same steps as last time. However, I switched up my prepoo regimen. I mixed Ghee, Olive oil and honey, left it in my hair for 2 hours then washed.

Once washed out, I poured my shikamla (1:2) mix into my hair focusing on my roots. I rinsed and then used VO5. I then added ORS Mayo to my hair and left it for over 2 hours. I rinsed it out and added a little VO5.

I finished up by doing what I did for TE. I put a little too much Kids Organics Detangling Lotion (KODL), followed by Spiked SCurl and Vatika. The next morning, my hair was a little wet and so I took the scarf off and let it air dry, but my ends became frizzy because they were touching my sweat shirt (silly!). Nevertheless, my hair was soft and full and healthy!

Later that night, I focused on my ends. I put KODL, SCurl, Amla Oil. I then ran the Amla through my strands. Then, I rolled my ends under and pinned with bobby pins. Wrapped it up with a scarf. We'll see how it feels tomorrow!
