Day 33: using bentonite clay

Yes, I'm on cycle 33!

I started last night by putting my cherry lola mix in my hair. It didn't have avocado or bananas and I used white vinegar. It was in my hair for just over two hours and then I followed up with KCKT, which I left on over night.

Here is a pic of my hair with the protein treatment -

Once I rinsed out the conditioner, I applied bentonite clay. It was a thick consistency, despite the water added and I even added more water to ensure that it smoothed out properly. I immediately noticed that my curls popped like crazy. I also noticed more hang time. I applied the clay in sections, then went back to ensure that I smoothed it in adequately. I passed over my hair a third time with wet fingers just to give the hair some moisture before I put on a shower cap.

I had the clay in for 5 hours. Below is a pic of my hair with bentonite clay in it -

Here is my product-free hair once the clay was washed out -

My observations of bentonite clay are that it is better at creating coils, giving some hang time and much less messy! I'm thinking I will find a way to mix calcium motmorilonite and bentonite together so as to use up the former clay.

As my hair began to dry, normal shrinkage kicked in. Still, my curls look good and I will try bentonite again on Wednesday/Thursday. Hopefully, my benefits from the clay, plus overnight conditioning, will accumulate.

Day 32: much better hair

I've found that my hair hasn't been the same since I used the tresemme naturals. At least until today. On Tuesday night, I commenced cycle 32 by rinsing with BS and then sleeping over night with KCKT.

The next morning, I did a clay treatment that I left on for over 2 hours b efore I then rinsed it out and proceeded with steps 4 and 5.

The latter steps took over an hour to do as I detangled thoroughly. I put my hair in plaits and left it for the entire day. This morning,  my hair is soft and curly. Its also a little stretched but not too much. I think I want to try rachelcprs stretching/wrapping technique sometime soon. Possibly next weekend.

This coning weekend, I'm going to do a protein treatment.  However, I won't include bananas or avocado as I don't have a mixer to ensure that the mix is made clump-free.

day 31:

Today is Saturday and I'm about to wash my hair.

I used the tresemme naturals on tuesday afternoon and if I'm to be honest, my hair didn't have its typical moisture and curls.

Since being in Trinidad, I've done my hair once, on thursday night.  I didn't leave the clay in as it was too runny but the condutioner was on for almost 30 minutes. I also used white vinegar instead of ACV cos the latter is hard to find.

Here's my plan for today, rinse with vinegar,  leave con in for 30 minutes, then put clay in for 1-2 hours and complete steps 4-5.

Here  are pics of my hair pre-wash -
Hair is alright not great.

Here is what my hair looked like at first when I took my hair out of plaits

frizz city!

Here is what it looked like post-wash before steps 4 and 5 (product-free hair):

I noticed that my ends felt fuzzy, and not as crisp and defined as I am used to having them. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the vinegar I now use or if  it is tied to using tresemme naturals. Can't believe how muh my hair does not like it. What a set back.

Will likely do my hair on Monday or Tuesday. Trying to get as many tries in before school commences.

Day 27: 3rd day hair

Washed my hair on Thursday and put it in plaits in the evening. Since I was home all day Friday, I didn't bother to take out the plaits. I opted to undo them today though, so my DD could take a picture and here is what it looks like -

Looks good!

Although my plan was to do a few more washes, I think I'll aim for two more before I travel on Wednesday. I want to have some clay for when I get to Trinidad and I also just want to take a bit of a break between now and my flight.

MHM Day 26

So I'm actually on cycle 26 and not 25 as I thought. Thank God I've been keeping track so I was able to realize my mistake.

Anyway, yesterday was another beach day and as usual, I ACVed and DCed on the way home. The con was In my hair for over 2 hours. I made dinner and then rinsed out the con and put clay in my hair in small sections. I then put each section into a Bantu knot and wore a shower cap to work out.

I rinsed out thoroughly, making sure not to leave clay in at the front as I had the previous cycle and then finished up with steps 4 & 5. I put my hair in plaits and slept.

My hair after a full day running around in town with the kids.

Second-day hair. Not too bad.

I noticed that my hair dried relatively quickly while running around in Roseau. Not sure if it was because I squeezed out excess liquid after applying the gel the night before, or because that town is super hot!

I need to do my hair 4 more times between now and the 10th to get to 30 cycles by the time I land in Trinidad. I think I'll do my hair tonight or tomorrow (Thursday), on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday. Hopefully.

3rd Day Hair

Not too bad. Going to get my hair done later today though.
